Application Overview
This is a multilingual chat application, specifically designed for
travel-related conversations. Up to 5 users may participate in one chat at the same time. Users
may select their preferred language from a list of 21 languages; including Japanese, English,
Chinese, and Korean, and they can enjoy chats in their language by using their voice or by inputting text.

Getting started
A user account is required either when starting a chat or searching
friends. Create an account and set your own access code to avoid access from strangers.

There are 6 languages for speech input/output, and 15 languages for
text input, a total of 21 languages available for use on this application. (See below for the list
of languages) The languages available for speech input/output are indicated with a microphone icon
besides each of their names. You may also select your profile picture here, which will appear on the
chat screen and for other users to see.

Search friends by account names and invite them to chat.
Check the name(s) of user(s) and tap the ‘Call-out’ button. The maximum number of users available in a chat is 5, so you may invite up to 4 friends.

Begin Chat

Hold the device to your ear as you would to make a phone call, wait for
the vibration, and start speaking.
When finished speaking, hold the device away from your ear.
The recognized speech will appear as text in the balloon next to your picture.
You may also start speaking by tapping on the ‘Speech input’ button and end by tapping the 'Finish' button.
The speeches by other users in the chat will be recognized, translated, and will also appear as text in YOUR language along with the speakers’ pictures.
The text found in ‘reverse translation’ is the result of your speech; once translated into English and then back into your selected language.
You may judge whether your speech has been properly translated and conveyed to other users or not, by checking if the meaning of the sentences in the ‘reverse translation’ is matched or similar to what you have inputted.

You may add keyboards in ‘Settings’-‘General’-‘Keyboard’-‘International Keyboards’-‘Add New Keyboard.’
*Please be aware that some or all of the contents may be unavailable in cases of server troubles.
*All speeches, text, and translated materials (hereinafter referred to as “User Data”) will be recorded on the NICT server.

The application not available for use in an environment with no Internet connection.
▶The telecommunication fee for using the application is charged to users, depending on the carrier.
▶The application is available for a definite period, as it is used for field experiments.
▶The functioning of the application cannot be guaranteed after the delivery period has expired.
▶The input text data and translation data are recorded on the server.
▶All data recorded through Chat may be used for improvement of the translation technology.
